Happy Earth Day!
Thanks to everyone who came by campus this afternoon and helped us beautify our school with all the new flowers, plants and grass.  It was a lovely day for a picnic!

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to our winners of the National Schools Project - Young Poets 2016 poetry contest:  Caitlyn, Karuna, Emma, Berkeley, Ava, Mika, Anabelle and Flynn. The poetry of these students has been selected for publishing in the 2016 poetry book and the book will be available in the Anansi Library by the fall of 2016. Whahoo! Nice going kiddos!

Heads up! There's lots happening on campus in the upcoming weeks as spring whizzes by.  Please mark your calendars.  

Parcc Testing:  Begins for 4th grade on Tuesday, 4/19 for 2 weeks.  The first week will focus on language arts skills and the second week will assess mathematics. I would LOVE to provide extra healthy SNACKS to the kiddos during this testing time.  If you can help me in this endeavor, I am taking donations of muffins, bagels with cream cheese, fresh fruit and fruit juices.  Please let me know. Thanks!

Earth Day Celebration:  Friday, 4/22 at 11:00
Please join our class for an Earth Day Celebration on campus, beginning at 11:00 on Friday, 4/22.  Classes and parents will be gathering together to help clean the campus and plant new seeds, as well as picnic together (Bring your own food basket).    4th Grade - We will be working with our 1st grade buddies to clean, prep and plant numerous flower beds around the school.  We NEED parents to bring hand shovels/trowels, rakes and a wheel barrow.  Please RSVP so I know you will join us and if you can help with the tools we need. Thanks!
  
Volunteers NeededTHIS SUNDAY (4/17) from 2:00-5:00 Anansi Charter School.  5-6 volunteers with brute strength to [1] Clear the grass area on the west side of the new library for the new plant bed (pick axes, shovels and wheel barrows and [2] Move the bedding material to the new planting area (shovels and wheel barrows)  If people are interested, please contact Susannah Gelb: 512-750-8717

Donation Drive:  The community service committee has begun a donation drive to benefit the Taos Men's Shelter. There is a box for donations in the front lobby. Please consider donating any of the following:trash bags - 13 gallon, toilet paper,
small bottles of shampoo, small toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand soap (bars),chap stick, small tubes of sunblock.  Thank YOU!
